Cars That Go Up in Value

The rare models worth more used than new

Almost every car loses value the moment it's driven off the lot. But a tiny number of limited-production, high-demand models buck the trend and appreciate — trading for more used than they cost new. These are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Appreciating models in our data

What makes a car appreciate

Scarcity plus desire. Halo supercars built in small numbers (think Ford GT or top-tier Bugatti models) are bought as investments and rarely driven, so clean, low-mileage examples become more valuable as the years pass. Appreciation is the rare exception — for normal cars, plan for depreciation.
